About Captain Vijyant Thapar & The Unit

Captain Vijyant Thapar was a symbol of courage, patriotism, and supreme sacrifice. At just 22, he led his troops fearlessly during the 1999 Kargil War with the 2 Rajputana Rifles. A proud alumnus of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College, Delhi University, he carried discipline and dedication from campus to the battlefield. To honor his bravery and sacrifice for the nation, our college NCC unit has been named after him. His legacy of valor, honor, and inspiration continues to guide every cadet.

The Vijyant NCC is a national-level organization dedicated to nurturing leadership qualities, discipline, and a strong sense of national responsibility among young citizens. At the college level, the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa NCC Company functions as a representative unit under the Delhi Directorate, affiliated with the 2 Delhi Battalion (2 DBN).

The unit comprises a total strength of 198 cadets, including 34 cadets in the Senior Wing (Girls) which was started in December 2024 and 160 cadets in the Senior Division (Boys).

Mission

The Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa NCC Company is dedicated to shaping cadets into responsible and committed citizens by providing opportunities for holistic development through military-based training, social service, and leadership-oriented activities.

Inspired by the teachings and ideals of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the unit consistently promotes the core values of discipline, leadership, unity, and service to the nation.

Events and Achievements (April 2025 – March 2026)

  • ENVIRONMENT DAY EVENT (5 June 2025) – Vijyant NCC's cadets sowed hope, awareness and responsibility through rally, tree plantation, poster making, slogan writing and nukkad natak.
  • SWACHHTA EVENT (5 Aug 2025) – Cadets aimed to spread awareness about cleanliness and inspire collective responsibility through road rally, tree plantation, poster making, quiz and essay writing.
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION (14 Aug 2025) – Cadets celebrated Independence Day with zeal and patriotism and organized flag hoisting, quiz, lecturette, role play and plank competition.
  • GUARDING THE GLORY EVENT (16 Aug 2025) – Cadets collaborated with Ehsaas students to collect and respectfully dispose displaced flags.
  • SWACHHTA PAKHWADA (24 Sept 2025) – Cleanliness awareness drive by Vijyant NCC's cadets through rally, plogging, plantation, poster making, seminar and pledge.
  • BLOOD DONATION DRIVE (13 Oct 2025) – Vijyant NCC organized blood donation drive in collaboration with AIIMS.
  • INAUGURATION OF VIJYANT RUNNING CLUB (26 Dec 2025) – On the 49th birth anniversary of Kargil martyr Captain Vijyant Thapar, cadets inaugurated 'Vijyant Running Club'.
  • ALUMNI MEET (26 Dec 2025) – Vijyant NCC's Cadets were honoured to meet distinguished alumni during a special interactive session.
  • ARMY DAY CELEBRATION (15 Jan 2026) – Cadets honoured the courage, sacrifice and unbreakable spirit of the Indian Army.
  • NCC ANNUAL FEST (12 March 2026) – Successful organisation of annual NCC fest at Thyagraj stadium.
